I’m really, really, really trying to follow a Paleo lifestyle here at the beginning on 2016. Really, really trying.
A couple of years ago I wrote a blog post about my Santa Fe Breakfast Battle With Myself, talking about how impossible it is to make a decision about where to eat my weekend meals. It remains true – I always waffle over Tia Sophia’s or The Pantry or Tecolote. Or Harry’s or Cafe Fina.
When I’ve lived elsewhere, Thanksgiving is a day to prepare your meal and eat at home. I once had a Thanksgiving dinner at a Denny’s in Amarillo because all the other restaurants were closed.
But not in Santa Fe.
One of the best things about owning a home in Santa Fe is that all your best friends want to come and visit. A lot. (Some folks might say this is one of the worst things about owning a home in Santa Fe. But I love having company.)
They especially want to come during the holidays.
I posted a Photo of the Day a couple of weeks ago of the beautiful cucumber soup I ate at the Hotel Santa Fe’s Amaya Restaurant.
Sometimes being a blogger has it’s own perks. It keeps you on your toes. You watch for great post ideas. You take lots of pictures. You’re hyper aware of opportunities and events around you. And, of course, you get to hone your writing skills, something I need every day.
Last week I posted an old favorite recipe of mine – Chile Relleno Quiche. The response to that blog post was overwhelming. On my Facebook page along, over 89,000 folks saw the recipe.
Evidently we’re all in love with New Mexico’s infamous green chile and we’re searching for ways to use it.
I try to follow the idea of Meatless Monday as much as possible. According to the Meatless Monday site, going meatless for at least one day a week is good for your health, good for your pocketbook, and most of all, good for the planet.

Food. Photos of food. If we’re going to get into a competition of good-looking, mouth-watering food photos, I think Santa Fe food will win hands down. If you’ve been away for a while, a photo like this can almost bring you to tears.
