We’re in the last day of the Santa Fe International Folk Art Market, and if you’ve ever wondered about this event, today’s the day to attend. I’ve been several times, and Sunday is by far my favorite day. Although it’s crowded, the throngs of people seem to thin out a tiny bit on Sunday.
Here’s what I see on my morning walk, when the city workers are watering the luscious flower baskets that hang from the lampposts on the Plaza and the sprinklers are running.
Wish you were here. . .
The Santa Fe Opera starts its 59th season this Friday night with The Daughter of the Regiment as well as a tailgating party that’s sure to outshine even the brightest stars in the sky that night.
Gates. Walk around a Santa Fe neighborhood and you’ll find a wide variety of gates. Custom made metal, hand-carved wood, something someone’s Grandpa made 70 years ago.
They’re unique, pretty, funky. And I like to shoot photos of every one I see.
I travel to eastern New Mexico at least once a month to visit my parents in Logan.
Tuesday mornings are pretty predictable. You can almost always find me at the Santa Fe Farmer’s Market around 7:30, toting a bag full of fresh beets and carrots from Velardo, heirloom tomatoes from Taos and eggs from Hernandez. Maybe, if I’m lucky, a pound or two of beef from Madrid.
Even though I get to live in Santa Fe these days, I grew up in Logan, New Mexico. For those of you unfamiliar with the northeastern corner of the state (which is pretty much everybody in the world), Logan is 24 miles north of Tucumcari.
It’s Sunday morning, and if you’re like me, you wake up thinking of a great breakfast. Something with extra strong coffee with half and half and honey, hot green chile, runny eggs, maybe some beans and potatoes.
Saturday morning in Santa Fe. Saw this on my morning walk through the neighborhoods off West San Francisco. Just another reason to be here every day. Wish you were here.
It’s a beautiful week to be in Santa Fe. Every flower bed, every hanging pot, basically every bare patch of ground is blooming in some way. If you drive out of town a mile or two, even the cacti on the side on the road are in bloom. Here’s just one of sights I saw on my morning walk today.
