I travel to eastern New Mexico at least once a month to visit my parents in Logan. There are several constants that I can take for granted – there will be coffee drinking around the kitchen table, there will be gravy with the biscuits for breakfast, and there will be my Dad humming or whistling to himself early in the morning while he makes more coffee for my Mom and me.

On a recent trip I realized another constant that I work hard not to ever take for granted. Every single time I drive home toward Santa Fe, the skies are astounding. Breathtaking. Beautiful. Every single time. without fail. With the recent rains we’ve been having, they’ve been even more amazing than usual.
