I walk by IAIA’s Museum of Contemporary Native Arts almost every day. It’s just one more visual feast that Santa Fe offers. Across the street from the St. Francis Cathedral, it’s hand-painted portal posts are a favorite backdrop for engagement and wedding photographers.
Food. Photos of food. If we’re going to get into a competition of good-looking, mouth-watering food photos, I think Santa Fe food will win hands down. If you’ve been away for a while, a photo like this can almost bring you to tears.
I recently drove out to Rowe Mesa to check on a couple of land listings I have there. For those of you who don’t know where Rowe is, it’s about 28 miles east of Santa Fe on I-25.
Travel and Leisure readers gave us yet another accolade to add to the already long list. They named Santa Fe the 4th best City in the U.S. and Canada for 2015. If you live here, you already know why.
This past weekend was Spanish Market in Santa Fe. In four weeks we have Indian Market. Anyone who lives in or visits Santa Fe on a regular basis has their favorite event. Mine is probably Wine and Chile Festival. Or maybe Christmas Eve on Canyon Road.
Anyone who’s spent any time at all in Santa Fe’s amazing eateries knows what this is. Sorry to torture you if you’re nowhere near La Choza or Tomasita’s or The Shed or any of our other favorite restaurants. Just thought you might like to see a shot of my sopaipillas from dinner last night. . .
I started eating at Santa Fe’s La Choza long ago, when I was a poor single mom living in Albuquerque. They opened in 1983, and I’m pretty sure I was going there in 1984.
Every single day in Santa Fe is beautiful. It’s just that some days are more stunning than others.
Like today. Here’s another glimpse of what I see on my morning walk. Every day.
We’re in the last day of the Santa Fe International Folk Art Market, and if you’ve ever wondered about this event, today’s the day to attend. I’ve been several times, and Sunday is by far my favorite day. Although it’s crowded, the throngs of people seem to thin out a tiny bit on Sunday.
