Looking forward to Fiesta de Santa Fe

This past weekend was Spanish Market in Santa Fe. In four weeks we have Indian Market. Anyone who lives in or visits Santa Fe on a regular basis has their favorite event. Mine is probably Wine and Chile Festival. Or maybe Christmas Eve on Canyon Road.

But this time of year, I’m looking forward to Fiesta de Santa Fe. It’s THE event that caters to locals. There are signs on street corners all over town announcing Santa Fe High class reunions that will occur during Fiestas. This is when Santa Feans who live elsewhere come home to visit. This in when you get a real feel for how locals live and celebrate.

On September 11, 2015, the City of Santa Fe will hold opening ceremonies that will start the celebration of Don Diego de Vargas’ peaceful reconquest of Santa Fe following 12 years of Spanish exile to El Paso after the Pueblo Revolt.

More details to follow. But if you’re looking for a great way to get to know the real Santa Fe during a weekend filled with events, think about being here for this one. I love Fiesta de Santa Fe!
