What to do in Santa Fe Today – Twelfth Night at Meow Wolf and Game Night at Jean Cocteau

It’s Wednesday in Santa Fe. In most other places, you’d be searching for something slightly interesting and entertaining to do on a weeknight, but not here. There’s a plethora of fun stuff to keep you entertained, from Vanessa at the Santa Fe Opera to swing dance lessons at Skylight to Flamenco dancing at The Lodge at Santa Fe. Plus Music at the Santa Fe Bandstand and hunter/jumper events at HIPICO.

If that crazy list doesn’t interest you, there’s also “An innovative version of Shakespeare’s comedy Twelfth Night” at Meow Wolf at the House of Eternal Returns tonight at 7 p.m.  Meow Wolf touts itself as a “little art experiment” that opened in the old Silva Lanes Bowling Alley (very amazingly renovated) in March. They’ve already had almost 200,000 visitors pour through their doors and they’ve been written up in the New York Times as the “House that Art, Fantasy and Mystery Built.” I can’t quite find words to describe exactly what Meow Wolf is, but I can guarantee that their treatment of Twelfth Night will be a riot. For $35, you probably can’t find another art event that will be quite this unique.

As you probably know, George R.R. Martin of Game of Thrones fame (he’s the GOT writer for those of you who are living on a deserted island) helped fund the creation of Meow Wolf. So, if you can’t make it out to Meow Wolf for their interpretation of Shakespeare, consider dropping by his other Santa Fe venture, Jean Cocteau Cinema, located at 418 Montezuma in the Railyard. What you may not know is that in addition to the theater, there’s a great little bar and concession stand where you just might run into George (it’s happened to me twice and he’s a very gracious host) at the Jean Cocteau. Tonight is Taps and Tabletops Night, which is a free tabletop game night. You can bring your own board game, or play one of theirs.

Where else but Santa Fe? Let me know which you choose. I’d love to hear from you at bunnyterry@kw.com.

Enjoy your Wednesday here.
