What to do in Santa Fe Today – Joe West, Cowgirl BBQ, HIPICO and a Wiener Dog Race!

Visiting and have no idea where the fun stuff is happening? Here are a couple of great ideas for what you can do in Santa Fe today. And a few more for later this week!

joe west and crewThere’s a Gospel Brunch starting at noon with Joe West and Friends at the Cowgirl BBQ at 319 Guadalupe. What that means is that Joe West, who is one of my favorite musicians of all time, will be playing in a corner of the patio while you enjoy one of the best Bloody Marys in town.  And a green chile cheeseburger. Or Taos yak meatloaf. Yummmm.

Joe West is funny, talented, and surrounds himself with folks who know how to play and have a good time. Find samples of their music here: http://joewestmusic.com/jammin-with-joe/ This image is borrowed from their website.

I’ll be heading over there after church. If you’re looking for a church to attend, that’s a whole ‘nother story. Shoot me a message at bunnyterry@kw.com and I’ll give you a few ideas.

You can also spend an afternoon at HIPICO, one of the coolest venues in Santa Fe this summer. You like equestrian events? This is the one to attend. Hunter/jumper competitions, a fine art show, family activities and amazing food and drink. Admission is free and you’ll have a great view of three mountain ranges to boot. Today there are Wiener Dog Races at noon and the $50,000 Charity Grand Prix de Santa Fe happening all afternoon.

HIPICO is located 100 S. Polo Drive, east of Santa Fe. Find a map at the bottom of their webpage home page.

There’s also the Hacienda Parade of Homes. For $15, you can tour some of Santa Fe’s most luxurious homes. And if you’re too busy at HIPICO and the Cowgirl today, this event goes on next weekend as well.

Wondering what to do later in the week? Stay tuned, or pick up a copy of Santa Fe Now. We have a couple of Grammy award winners at the Santa Fe Bandstand on Tuesday – Native American guitarist Larry Mitchell and Native American flutist Robert Mirabel. More about that later. Not to be missed.

Enjoy your Sunday in Santa Fe. Life is good here.
