It’s here – Fiestas de Santa Fe week is officially here!!! We walked downtown yesterday and meandered through the Arts & Crafts Show booths, picking up a couple of nice Christmas gifts.
Bought water from the Fiesta Council booth and then went over to El Paseo for a margarita and skewers (that’s another post. . .El Paseo on Galisteo is now officially my favorite watering hole and restaurant in town. How about $1 tacos every single day of the week? But I digress. . .). Came home to read the paper and see what’s on the agenda for this week. Click here for the event calendar. Tomorrow at 10 a.m. is the Concierto de Mariachi Matinee at the Lensic, as well as a historical lecture at the New Mexico History Museum at 6 p.m. I plan to be at the lecture, as I have been for the past several years.
One of my favorite things about Fiestas is that the Plaza is transformed. The coats of arms of the original Spanish (and otherwise) founding families are displayed on the portal of the Palace of the Governors. And displays like this surround the Plaza.
Get downtown. Get in the middle of it. This is the week that locals live for. Every day I’ll post something about Fiestas. See you there! Viva la Fiesta!
