This Dual Parcel Legacy Estate is set on 167-acres with sweeping views of the Cerrillos Hills, Jemez, Sangre de Cristo, and Ortiz Mountains. This extraordinary Modern Territorial-style residence is a one-owner custom build. It was designed in 1999 by renowned architect Robin Gray, known for her work on Randy Travis's New Mexico home. Thoughtfully crafted with enduring materials and authentic Southwestern character, the home features plaster walls, exposed vigas, three traditional kiva fireplaces, and reclaimed beams anchoring the living room hearth. Among the numerous custom features of the home, a striking Moroccan window, cove ceilings and latillas add architectural artistry to the main living space. Saltillo tile floors ground the lower level, while the staircase and second story floors are rare 130-year-old hardwoods reclaimed from Utah railroad trestles. All cabinetry throughout the home is custom pine, handcrafted in Canada. The floor plan includes three bedrooms, a media/den, library, and two small studios. Comfort and efficiency are seamlessly integrated with radiant floor heating on both levels, seven mini-split units, a new Rennai tankless water heater, a new boiler, water softener and whole-house filtration, plus reverse osmosis at the kitchen sink. The home was fully re-stuccoed in (2025) and there is brand new septic (2026). Outdoor living unfolds across flagstone patios framed by lilacs and iconic blue mesquite wood doors imported from Mexico. A three-car garage completes the offering. This timeless estate is a rare blend of architectural pedigree and panoramic New Mexico landscape on your own slice of paradise.
Once home to the large mining community, Madrid is now a sleepy little town of artists. With an ice cream parlour and old fashioned businesses, Madrid feels other-worldly to visitors. Homes here are early 20th century wooden structures painted a variety of colors. Just north of Madrid is Cerrillos, a traditional New Mexico village of older adobes and quaint shops.
Explore and then live on the Turquoise Trail, aka South Highway 14. This is the “back way” from Santa Fe to Albuquerque, and is a beautiful way to travel the less beaten path. Most lots come with acreage of at least an acre, and many with more. The wide open spaces have less building restrictions than you’ll find in the City of Santa Fe, and horses are generally welcome.
This rapidly growing area with plans for expansion extending into the 2050’s is largely made up of rolling hills dotted with pinon and juniper. Most of the communities located here have extraordinary views of the Jemez, the Sangres and the Sandias.
